Brookside, KCMO: The Heart of Kansas City Living
Hello, and welcome to the enchanting world of Brookside, right here in Kansas City! I'm Carrie Beth Shouse, and I'm excited to share with you what it's like to live in this beautiful neighborhood that I proudly call home. Brookside is where my heart resides, where my family has grown and prospered, and where I've spent over two decades helping others discover the joy of living in this unique corner of Kansas City.
Brookside is a neighborhood steeped in history, and you can see it in the stunning architecture that graces our streets. The charming homes, many of which were built in the early 1900s, exude character and provide a unique sense of timelessness that's hard to find elsewhere. Strolling through Brookside feels like taking a step back in time while still enjoying the conveniences of modern life.
Brookside Plaza is the shopping and dining district, built in 1922. One of the main attractions of Brookside is its vibrant culinary scene. Local favorites such as Meddy’s, Bella Napoli, Charlie Hoopers, The Brooksider, Michael Forbes Bar & Grille, and Carmen's Café tempt foodies with interesting menus and warm ambiance. The neighborhood is also home to KC’s local favorite coffee shop, the Roasterie Brookside Café. Additionally, the Brookside Farmers' Market, held weekly, provides a platform for local farmers and artisans to showcase their fresh produce and homemade goods.
Brooksider's pride themselves on their strong sense of community. The annual Brookside Art Festival draws art lovers from far and wide, featuring a wide range of artworks and attracting talented artists. The St. Patrick's Day warm-up parade is another cherished tradition, filling the streets with festive cheer and showcasing the neighborhood's Irish heritage. The Brookside sidewalk sale, held every July, is a shopper's delight, with local businesses offering enticing discounts and promotions. These events not only bring the community together but also attract visitors who can experience the warmth and vibrancy of Brookside firsthand. What sets Brookside apart is our strong sense of community. Neighbors know each other, and our front porches often become the stage for friendly conversations.
Brookside is blessed with beautiful parks and green spaces. Brookside Park, for instance, offers walking trails, playgrounds, pickleball courts, a baseball diamond and the best sledding hill in Kansas City on a snow day! We are also blessed to have The Harry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail nearby. It is a local favorite, perfect for biking and jogging, and it winds its way through Brookside, Waldo and reaches the County Club Plaza.
